LUKA DONCIC

CONSPIRACY

On Thursday night, Luka Doncic went down with an apparent ankle injury (Cam Johnson stepped on his foot) within the first 3 minutes of the game. Injuries of this type happen all the time, so what’s the big deal? Well, this is one of the top faces in the NBA and there’s a lot of money involved.

Prior to the game, Twitter was littered with FanDuel Parlays and Straights, needing a ‘competitive’ performance from Luka to solidify some SERIOUS cash. But, with Luka being injured in the first three minutes, all those bets fell disastrously short, leaving people to beg FanDuel to consider voiding Luka – which they won’t, and here’s OUR interpretation of why.

Prior to the game; renown sports better, Beau, noted that Spencer Dinwiddie’s ‘Game’s Top Scorer’ prop was INSANELY short (+1700), instead of what should have been very long (around +4000).

Incase you’re curious, Dinwiddie averages half the points Luka does. So, when there is a shortening of odds, like in this case, it says the probability is rising. Meaning, FanDuel was keyed-in and preparing for a Luka bad game, where he’d fall short on many props (not necessarily an injury) and if anybody was ‘smart’ enough to bet Dinwiddie (or an other player) the financial blow would not be as hard for FanDuel to overcome.

With the injury, Luka indeed fell short, but it’s caused way too much attention on FanDuel to do ‘something’ to rectify this situation. But, FanDuel was counting on Luka coming up short anyway and, frankly, the needed him to.

FanDuel voiding this, would cost millions, especially after a day where plenty of NBA dogs won outright or covered AND major NFL Playoff Bets hang in the balance of FanDuel’s immediate financial future.

FanDuel needed Luka to fail but not with this attention. I don’t foresee them voiding Luka but I assume a ‘free bet’ will be offered to help offset the narrative set by DraftKings (voiding Luka on parlays). FanDuel has a bigger audience and more at stake than DK, but this was definitely a good move by DK, a couple weeks before the Superbowl.
